When choosing to live more naturally and with fewer Chemicals, you will quickly discover that Essential Oils can help in so many areas of your and your family’s life. Their benefits are endless. Certain oils can help mentally, emotionally, physically, can be used in cooking, and can also be used to make household cleaning products!
I was dubious at first and wondered if their benefits were actually just a bit of a myth but I regularly started seeing a few friends post about the ways they were using oils and the results they were getting and started getting curious.
The main way I use Essential oils is by diffusing them. I have some amazing blends such as Surrender (great for relaxing), build your dream (empowers and clarifies to help you find the way to achieve your dreams) and Highest Potential (helps enhance self – confidence)
I also started blending single oils together from my starter kit to create my own blends that I have used on myself for skin irritation, scratchy throat, and blocked sinuses.
It was a little nerve wracking at first but I have now started using them on the kids. I mainly diffuse certain oils around them but have also applied some for the ailments mentioned above. There are certain precautions you need to take when using essential oils, for everyone but even more so for babies and children, so make sure you are aware of how to use them properly.
I had amazing results with a blend called “Seedlings Calm” in that it put a stop to my 5 year old’s bedtime tantrums. You can read about it here.
so what are essential oils?
Essential Oils are the oils of a plant, tree, shrub, or herb that are extracted by a careful process of steam distillation or cold pressing. They are far more powerful than dried herbs and their benefits can be felt simply by lightly inhaling them.
When breathed in, essential oils stimulate smell receptors in the nose that send chemical messages through nerves to the brain’s limbic system, which may affect moods and emotions
which brand of essential oil should I purchase?
The very first thing you need to know about Essential Oils is that there are a large number of synthetic oils on the market. Ever bought an oil hearing that it has powerful benefits only for it to have no effect at all? These oils have been altered or engineered with chemicals and or solvents. When choosing what brand you would like to use you need to know that they adhere to strict quality and testing standards.
You want to make sure that you are buying 100% pure essential oils. The only way to know this is by doing a little research. (Don’t simply trust what is printed on the label). An essential oil only has to have 10% oil in it to be able to add a label to its bottle claiming to be 100% pure. In actual fact, the other 90% are chemicals and fillers. You should never apply these to your skin as this all then gets absorbed straight into your bloodstream. Young Living oils are 100% plants, no chemicals or fillers but rather a medicinal-grade oil.
If you want to learn more about this then Young Living Essential Oils all come with a “Seed to Seal” promise which means the oil is not altered in any way between extraction to being bottled. They are a very transparent company and I love that they also have a sustainable compliance program. You can learn more about who they are and their strict standards in this video.
how do I get wholesale prices on essential oils?
Once you discover the world of Essential Oils it can be a little addictive and therefore expensive! Young Living has found a way to help with this by offering wholesale prices to its members. The best thing about this is there are no commitments or minimum purchases. However, you will need to purchase one of the Young Living Starter Kits within 30 days of signing up. Don’t want to? See below, however, there is a very likely chance that the kit will contain the oil you are after as it has been carefully created to contain a mix of oils that benefit a number of ailments either singularly or when mixed together. The starter kits cost as little as £39.30 and there is a number to choose from depending on your budget and needs.
I strongly recommend the Premium Starter Kit as it includes some of the most commonly used Essential Oils as well as a choice of diffuser.
don’t want to buy a starter kit?
If you don’t want to purchase a starter kit you can simply sign up as a retail customer. This is more suited to anyone wanting to just occasionally buy an oil or product. You just won’t get wholesale prices this way.
