Leeds, West Yorkshire. Home to Cluedo, Grand Theft Auto, Marks & Spencer and the last sole manufacturer of the flat cap in the UK. Leeds is a fantastic city, perfect for a weekend with the girls, a romantic night away or even a solo trip.
Not only are there endless independent pubs, bars and restaurants to enjoy, but there is also absolutely loads of things to do, whatever you’re in to. Here are some of my top picks of things to do in Leeds.

for foodies…
There is always be some sort of food event or festival going on in Leeds, and I’ve already mentioned that there are endless restaurants to try. If you want to try the very best of Leeds’ foodie scene, you can book onto a food tour with Leeds Food Tours. You’ll visit 6-7 venues, with food included at every stop, and learn about the venue, the food and some of the culinary history of Leeds & Yorkshire.
for culture lovers…
There are several art trails that will take you around the city, delivering an injection of art and culture whilst helping you to get to know Leeds. The Leeds Welcome Art Trail starts at the train station and takes you through the centre of the city centre. The Waterfront Art Trail takes you along, you’ve guessed, the waterfront. There’s also an owl trail, featuring 25 owl statues around the city.
for history buffs…
One of my favourite places is Kirkgate Market, and it’s also one of the largest covered markets in Europe. You can wander through, absorbing the atmosphere, or you can book onto a heritage market tour. This tour will teach you some of the histories of Leeds Kirkgate Market. You will even get to visit the secret balcony to see the market from a new perspective.
for museum fans…
Leeds has several great museums. These include the Thackeray Medical Museum, the Royal Armouries and several art galleries. My favourite museum is the Leeds City Museum. Here you can see the famous Leeds tiger, an ancient mummy and special exhibitions – I loved the Spice Girls exhibition there a few years ago!
for nature lovers…
If you like all things nature, get yourself to Roundhay, just outside the city and easily accessible by bus. On a nice day, you could spend hours in Roundhay park walking around the lake, riding the land train or having a picnic. If it’s raining, pay a visit to Tropical World just opposite the park to enjoy the company of butterflies, meerkats and monkeys.
for the competitive ones…
If you consider yourself competitive, there’s plenty of entertainment for you in Leeds! You can play beer pong at Roxy Ball Rooms, join the crazy golf movement at Junkyard Golf, try to escape from one of the many escape rooms in the city, or embrace your inner geek with retro arcade games at Geek Retreat.
