With the weather teasing us last week and giving up two beautiful days of sunshine it’s got me thinking about picnics.
We are so lucky to have a number of great spots to have a picnic in Northants. Whether you are just wanting to have a lazy, long afternoon in the sun or a spot where the kids are entertained on some play equipment there are plenty of choices.
Here is a list of some of the best places to go for a picnic in Northants.
Delapre Abbey
Take a walk around the gardens of Delapre Abbey then finish off with a picnic outside the orangery. Here you can enjoy views over the parklands and golf course.

Salcey Forest.

Enjoy a peaceful or adventurous walk around the forest and finish off with a leisurely picnic.
Country Park
Our country parks all offer a great spot for a picnic in Northants. Fermyn Woods and Daventry country park both offer a large area alongside the playground to relax while the kids burn off some energy.
Sywell and Brixworth have areas and picnic benches all over their country parks. Irchester country park offers large grass areas to relax after discovering dinosaur bones or visiting the railway museum.
Abington Park
Perhaps one of the most obvious choices. Abington Park is made for picnics!

Enjoy a walk around Castle Ashby gardens and once hungry set up at one of the various grassed areas and enjoy your picnic.
