Today the boys and I headed over to Harpole to do some Strawberry picking. I remember going fruit picking as a child and loved it and so was excited for the boys.
Harpole Strawberry picking fields are located at Grange Farm, Upper High Street, Harpole, Northampton. When you arrive you drive straight into a grassy field where there is plenty of parking.

At one end of the carpark, you collect your plastic punnet and will then be instructed as to where to do your strawberry picking. There are 2 sections full of loads of long rows of fruit so plenty of room for everyone.
As soon as we got to our row I couldn’t believe the number of strawberries there were. You are absolutely spoilt for choice. We had originally been planning to go at the weekend but they had closed the farm due to being ‘picked out’ of ripe fruit so I was worried we might struggle to find some good ones but it is clear they are just ensuring that there is a continuous flow of amazing berries.
The boys had a punnet each and were able to fill them in about 10 minutes. They were very proud of their pickings! Once you have picked your fruit you head down and pay on your way back to the car.
The strawberry picking fields are situated on a hill that overlooks the surrounding villages and the views are beautiful. Normally you are able to enjoy a drink and slice of cake in the cafe but due to our visit being during lockdown they were just serving cold drinks and ice creams for you to take away.
This was a lovely morning out for us, especially as we were really lucky with the weather. According to their website, it looks as though they normally have different types of fruit – raspberries, blackberries and asparagus (depending on the time of year), hopefully, this will resume in 2021

Have you been Strawberry Picking? How was it for you?

I went to take my grandchildren to the maze on Friday and was HORRIFIED by the price they were charging. £5 per person. I thought that was outrageous. There was a £2 discount for a family ticket.
We did not go in. Even my 10 year old felt that was too much money. What a shame.
By the way, we had already spent over £20 on strawberries. Overall, very disappointing.
Oh I am so sorry to hear that, I do agree £5 does sound a lot. hope the strawberries were delicious though!
