With Christmas getting excitingly close, schools nearly finished and everyone closing up at work it’s feeling very festive! This is our first Christmas back in the UK and I am loving that the I’m back to a cold Christmas where it gets dark early and we are all rugged up. It’s hard to get that Christmas feeling when it’s hot and you are spending your free time at the beach!
Back in Australia, with Christmas falling in Summer, it meant that it didn’t get dark until late so not as many people bother with decorating the outside of their house with Christmas lights.
Over here, however, there seems to be at least one house on every street twinkling away! This has been very exciting for my 3 boys, especially my 2-year-old who just stares at them with big eyes saying “oh wow” over and over!!
There are of course a few houses and streets that well outdo the rest so I have put together this list of some Christmas light houses in Northants that have really put in an amazing effort.
If you know of any more please let me know in the comments below so that I can add them to the list.
Hollow Wood Road – Burton Latimer, Kettering
This is not just 1 house but a whole street! Over the last 2 years, Hollow Wood Road Christmas Street Lights have raised over an incredible £17,000 to support local charities. The lights go on at 4 pm and off at 10 pm every weekday. Due to safety and respect for the local residents, you are asked to park in the nearby Bosworth Garden Centre car park.
