In all the parenting advice that is thrown at us every day online and in print I find there is a huge lack of information about the importance of “Me Time” for Mums. It’s so easy to get caught up in making sure we are always there for our kids (and partner) 24/7 that we forget about ourselves!! Even I have to admit, that getting some me-time isn’t something I plan in my calendar. I don’t even really think about it until its happening and I’m enjoying it!! I think it’s also hard for us to think of “Me Time” ideas or we perhaps even feel selfish in doing so, so we throw it in the too hard, I’ll tackle it later pile.
As I mentioned, thinking of some me-time ideas can be tricky, so I put the question out there to some other Mums to see what their me-time Ideas are.
41 Me-Time Ideas for Mums
I have a bath. I wait till my husband is home and then I shut the door to the bathroom (after making sure everyone has had a wee). I put music on my phone, favourite bath bits and enjoy just relaxing. Sometimes I have a book, sometimes I just lay there in peace. I always feel better afterwards. – Becka
I’ve started going to a weekly exercise class, it’s only an hour away from the kids but it gives me such a boost when I’m done it feels like much longer! – Gemma

I have a season ticket at my local rugby club. It’s something I’ve had since I was 11 and it’s a big part of my life. We sometimes go as a family for day time games, but for the more regular Friday night games I just join my dad and sister and it’s nice to just be “me” not “mum”. It’s also a good excuse to shout and yell and get all my frustrations out! – Jennifer
